Pokopia Fixes Animal Crossing’s Biggest Problems

I’ve been playing Pokopia for 6 hours now, and the biggest surprise isn’t just that it’s good — it’s how much more structured and rewarding it feels compared to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Pokopia takes the relaxing town-building formula people love from Animal Crossing, but adds constant progression, unlocks, and meaningful rewards for everything you do. Instead of purely intrinsic goals, nearly every activity pushes you toward new Pokémon, new areas, and rebuilding multiple environments across the world.

After about six hours of gameplay on Nintendo Switch 2, the scale of Pokopia’s world and the satisfaction of improving each town has been the biggest surprise.
