BMW is reviving the abbreviation CSL – with a special model based on the M4 Competition that is street legal but developed for the race track. CSL stands for Coupé Sport Lightweight. The last model that was also available in a CSL variant was the M3 of the E46 series - BMW sold it from mid-2003 to summer 2004. Now, with the M4 CSL, the currently fastest production BMW gets the legendary abbreviation. And it's not just fast when it comes to top speed: with a notarized time of 7:20.207 minutes for the 20.832-kilometre full lap of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the M4 CSL achieves the best time ever achieved by a production BMW.
