Can foreigners buy property in Sri Lanka?
Yes, foreigners can buy land or property in Sri Lanka.
The easiest is to buy apartment, which can directly go under your name.
To buy a land (with or without a house on it) the process is like this:
- start a private limited company in Sri Lanka. A local partner/lawyer/agent can own 51% and the foreigner can own 49%
- start a holding company which can lease the private limited company for 99 years.
This gives the foreigner full control of the property.
