The day after an attempted coup (on white neo-fascist evangelical Christianity)

These are strong words. I am aware of their capacity to land hard, or be misunderstood. But they also come from a very deep & clear place. With images of Jesus 2020 flags and even a cross being hoisted in the midst of violence and mayhem yesterday, it feels important to articulate why I believe every word of the apostles’ creed from the depth of my being—but also why I denounce & renounce white evangelical Christianity in its current form. I believe in the Son who was crucified & resurrected, but I believe neo-fascist Christian nationalism is the greatest enemy to the message of the cross we have in our time.
