French Navy Helicopter vs Houthi Drone | AS565 Panther Action

A French Navy helicopter intercepts and shoots down a Houthi drone in the Red Sea in footage released by the French Ministry of Defense. The video gives a glimpse of the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea as allied forces use precision and coordination to protect maritime navigation.

It's believed the helicopter involved in this rare interception was an AS565 Panther flying from Air Defense FREMM frigate Alsace (D656). Alsace has been deployed to the Red Sea region since January 21, 2024.

For context, between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on June 1, USCENTCOM forces destroyed one Iranian-backed Houthi UAS and observed two others crash into the Red Sea. Additionally, USCENTCOM engaged and destroyed two Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles directed at USS Gravely. These actions are vital to ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime safety from Suez to Hormuz.
