Slow Cooker Pulled Pork the EASY way.
On this episode of Bachelor on a Budget, we make Pulled Pork in the slow cooker using a Pork shoulder, also known as a Boston Butt. It's super easy to prepare, and is one of the cheapest cuts of meat. You're going to love this recipe.
Recipe:
2 tbsp of Salt
1 tsp of Cinnamon
1 tbsp of Cumin
1 tbsp of Onion powder
2 tbsp of Sugar
2 tbsp of Paprika
4 Cloves of Garlic (minced)
4-6 lb Pork Shoulder or Butt
1 Medium Onion (Chopped)
2 Cups of Chicken Stock (Beef, beer, or pineapple juice will work too)
Couple Dashes of Liquid Smoke
1 1/2 - 2 cups of BBQ Sauce
Instructions:
1. Mix together all spices and garlic in a container. On a plate, use clean hands to rub all the spices over the entire pork shoulder.
2. Add onions to the bottom of the crockpot, then the shoulder, any extra rub, chicken stock, and liquid smoke. Set on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6. Low is recommended. If there's a bone in your cut, then you will know it's done when the bone falls off with ease. You can flip the shoulder around the halfway mark.
3. Remove pork from Slowcooker and set on a cutting board to rest for 10-15 minutes to avoid loss of juices. Add juices from slow cooker into a container and add to the fridge. This is so the fat can separate and be strained off. You can add some of the juices back to the pork or dispose.
4. Take two forks and shred the shoulder. Add the pork back to the slow cooker with your favourite BBQ sauce and mix together. You can serve now or leave in the slowcooker for up to about 2 hours for the sugars in the BBQ sauce to caramelize, being careful not to let it burn. You can also add in some of the juices and onions that were separated if you like your pulled pork more moist.
