⭐️ Model number: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G6
⭐️ OEM: Seasonic
⭐️ The major differences with the older line: Different OEM, in the past EVGA, used Super Flower and FSP for its G2, G3, and G5 lines
⭐️ Efficiency: Cybenetics-Gold, 80 PLUS Gold
⭐️ Noise: Cybenetics A- (25-30 dB[A])
⭐️ Modular: Yes (Fully)
⭐️ Dimensions: Compact (140mm depth)
⭐️ Price: $170
⭐️ Warranty: 10-years
⭐️ Power Distribution: Full power at 12V and 120W on the minor rails
⭐️ Cables: 2x EPS connectors on 2x cables, 6x PCIe connectors on 4x cables (there are two dedicated PCIe cables), 9x SATA connectors on 3x cables, 4x 4-pin Molex connectors on 1x cable, 1x FDD adapter
⭐️ In Cable caps: No
⭐️ Filtering Caps: The electrolytic filtering caps are by Chemi-Con and Rubycon and are of high enough quality. Lots of polymer caps are also used.
⭐️ Cooling Fan: Typically, Seasonic used a Hong Hua fan. The fluid dynamic bearing will help the fan keep its noise output low, and it is also far more reliable than plain sleeve bearings.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bottom Line⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to its cooperation with Seasonic, EVGA is back in the big boys club in the PSU market. The new G6 line is a good successor of the legendary G2 models, although the 850 G6 unit doesn't achieve the same high-performance levels as the 850 G3. Nonetheless, it stays close to the competition, and under normal temperatures, the operating noise is low. Notable alternatives to the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G6 are the Corsair RM850x (2021), the Seasonic GX-850, the XPG Core Reactor 850, and the Cooler Master V850 Gold V2.
Pros 👍
• Full power at 47 degrees Celsius
• Good build quality
• Tight enough load regulation at 12V
• Efficient at super-light loads
• Long hold-up time
• Low inrush current with 115V
• Not noisy at normal operating conditions
• Fully modular
• Loads of connectors
• Compatible with the alternative sleep mode
• Compact dimensions
• 10-year warranty
Cons 👎
• Fan speed profile could be smoother
• Efficiency at normal and light loads could be higher
• High inrush current with 230V
• Not so efficient 5VSB rail
• Small distance between connectors
