David Beckham Impresses Peyton Manning On Break From Filming Michael Bay Commercial

Throw it like Beckham! David Beckham’s arm impressed legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning on the set of their new Frito-Lays commercial.

The sports icons took some time to throw the pigskin around during a break in filming the snack brand’s fun World Cup campaign, which sees them tackle the age-old debate of whether it’s “Soccer or Football”. And two-time Super Bowl champion Manning was wowed by Beckham’s technique. He told Becks: “That’s good! Good grip, I like the high release.” When Beckham groaned in disappointment after one effort, Manning reassured him: “Don’t worry, I invented the wobbly pass! As long as it gets there!” After catching another accurate throw from Beckham, he added: “Impressed! I can’t do his sport!” Beckham also showed a safe pair of hands catching expert passes from Manning, who said: “Look at the hands, natural hands.” Manning also talked up Beckham’s American Football skills to People.com, saying: “David Beckham can throw a spiral. “David wanted to push himself a little bit and didn’t want to do the 10-yard pass. He was backing up to 25, 30 yards.”

Beckham and Manning certainly seemed to be having plenty of fun on set of the commercial, directed by Hollywood filmmaker Michael Bay. The ad jokingly sets out to settle the score on the old American sporting debate - is the sport called soccer or football? As well as Beckham and Manning having their say, it also features takes from football stars Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and Tim Howard, along with United States Women’s National Team legends Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain, who even repeats her famous bra-flashing goal celebration.
