Tarek El Moussa's Strange Reaction To Christina And Ant Anstead's Split

Christina and Ant Anstead surprised some fans on September 18, 2020 when Christina announced their separation after less than two years of marriage. The Flip or Flop and Christina on the Coast star posted on Instagram,

"Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority. We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future."

The news followed the couple's marriage in December 2018, and the birth of their son, Hudson London Anstead, in September 2019.

Christina's breakup marks her second divorce, as she finalized her split from Flip or Flop co-star, Tarek El Moussa, in January 2018. Although Christina and Tarek's breakup was initially messy, it seemed as if they had landed on a dream situation for co-parenting their two kids and had both moved on.

While Christina and Ant started their new life together, Tarek got engaged to Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young in July 2020, and it looked like an ideal relationship between blended families. But following Christina's separation announcement, Tarek shared his own news on Instagram, and some fans say his reaction is a little strange.

Only a few days after ex-wife Christina shared news of her separation from Ant, Tarek jumped on Instagram to share a very peppy post. In the photo, he is seated on a couch next to his fiancée, Heather, and the two are smiling from ear to ear. The real estate mogul wrote in the caption,

"I don't know...I'm just so excited about life!! I'm in love, I'm engaged, flipping 101 is on the air and Flip or Flop is on the way. I dreamed of this life and I got it by believing I could do it and working my tail off!!"

Meanwhile, Heather wrote in the comments, quote, "I dreamt of this life with you," followed by several heart emojis.

Of course, some might find this blissful post a little odd in light of Christina's sad news. However, a source explained to Hollywood Life that Tarek simply wants to keep their relationship focused on parenting, sharing,

"Christina and Tarek only talk about work and the kids (daughter Taylor & son Brayden), they're not really friends. As the mother of his children, he wants her to be happy, but they don't discuss personal lives at all."

It's also important to note that one picture can't tell the whole story. An insider told Us Weekly,

"Tarek is sad that Christina is going through a hard time. But [he] did not think that Christina and Ant would last."

After Tarek posted his "dream life" pic with Heather, fans had mixed feelings. While some found his post insensitive to Christina, others defended the happy couple.

On another of Tarek's Instagram posts where he shared a photo of himself, Heather, and his two kids, a fan wrote,

"Because Christina just announced her divorce, Tarek and Heather are supposed to lay low and not show any type of happiness they have together...?? Let these two be happy."

Another person added support for Tarek, writing,

"LOVE how well you all get along and how much the kids adore Heather....wonderful when everyone can co-parent together as adults! Refreshing to see!"

Christina and Tarek were married from 2008 to 2018. They began filming their hit HGTV show Flip or Flop in 2013, and because of the show's success, they've continued filming even after their split.

On September 21, 2020, in fact, she was spotted in Los Angeles with Tarek as they filmed the tenth season of their show. According to People magazine, they were chatting in between filming and seemed at ease. This L.A. sighting came only a day after Tarek shared his upbeat Instagram post about living his "dream life" with Heather. So Christina and Tarek appear to enjoy an amicable relationship, but one that revolves entirely around their show.

Back in August 2020, for example, Christina shared an Instagram video of Tarek putting powder on his face prior to filming, and in the video, you can hear Christina laughing. So it seems like they really do get along, which is great for their co-parenting and working relationship.

But Tarek, for his part, is clearly focused on his future with Heather, especially now that they're planning a wedding and just bought a house together in Newport Beach, California.
