RM243.89 Million for New Township and Service Centres in Rural Areas

The Sarawak Government allocated RM243.89 million for the new urban development, new township and service centre in rural areas to provide convenience and better facilties to the community.

Minister of Natural Resource and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the projects are under the 12th Malaysia Plan and that the allocation has been given to the Land Consolidation and Development Authority (LCDA) to implement the projects.

This includes new townships in Sebuyau and Simunjan in Samarahan, Bandar Baru Daro Phase Two, Mukah and Pekan Baru Kabong in Betong. in addition service centres in Lingga, Matu, Igan and Ulu Merapok are in the implementation phase while the Metading Service Centre has been completed and handed over to Dalat and Mukah District Council.
