SpaceX successfully launched Spain's most advanced military communications satellite and prepared for a record-breaking Starlink mission, highlighting the company's unprecedented launch pace in 2025.

Spain Completes Ambitious Space Project

SpaceX launched the SpainSat NG II satellite from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 9:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 23, completing what Spanish officials called the country's "most ambitious space project" in history. The mission used a Falcon 9 rocket in rare expendable mode, with the first-stage booster B1076 flying its 22nd and final mission.

The 6.1-ton satellite, built by Airbus and Thales Alenia Space, joins its twin SpainSat NG I to form a constellation providing secure military communications for the Spanish Armed Forces, NATO, and European allies. The satellites will cover nearly two-thirds of the planet, from the Americas to Asia, including Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

"This finalizes the SpainSat NG programme, the most ambitious space project in Spain's history and the most sophisticated government communications system in Europe," Airbus stated.
