Anakin: Nooo!

Padme: Anakin! What is it?

Anakin: Pant… pant… nothing… nothing, I’m fine.
He doesn’t wait for her to argue. He moves into the refresher, steps into the hot tub, and sinks until the water hits his collarbones. Steam rolls off him. His eyes stay unfocused, like he’s still trapped somewhere else. The vision didn’t come in pieces tonight. It came as a single, unbroken chain

It starts again the moment he closes his eyes.

Anakin opens his eyes and sinks a little further into the tub. He had felt off ever since killing Dooku on the malevolence. He obeyed the order of the chancellor but something about the way it was said left him haunted and cold, and ever since then he had been haunted by these visions. If his visions were correct, then he would turn to the Dark Side in an effort to save Padme, only to cause the very tragedy he was trying to prevent. Last time the force had tried to warn him of what was to come, he had heeded it too late, and his mother paid the price. He is not going to make that mistake a second time.

Padme: Hey, mind if I join you?

Anakin smiles, gives a nod and sighs as she settles into the hot whirlpool. He sees the swell of her belly, and it reminds him how it’s not just her life at stake; they don’t have just one child on the way but two.

Padme: Alright, what is it?

Anakin: What?

Padme: Anakin, I’ve been married to you for over three years. I know that look.

Anakin: *chuckles* Can’t pull the bantha fur over your eyes, huh?

Padme: Nope.

Anakin: *sigh* alright…Have you ever considered that we may be on the wrong side?

Padme: What do you mean?

Anakin: What if the democracy we thought we were serving no longer exists, and the Republic has become the very evil we have been fighting to destroy?

Padme: Whoa, who are you and what have you done with my Anakin?

Anakin: heh, I promise I’m not a separatist.

Padme,” Believe it or not, you’ve put to words what I’ve been wondering for months now. Why do you ask?

Anakin: I saw you die. Not just you. Both of them. And every path that led there. Palpatine, the war, the Council, all of it twisting into something I did not recognize. I remember something Rex said in a recording. He mentioned how he dug further into what fives talked about and how he was on the steps of some conspiracy I thought at first maybe he was suffering Shell shock after Five’s death, but after that vision, I do not think that’s it at all. I think Palpatine built this war long before we ever fought in it.

Padme: The Delegation of 2000 has been saying the same thing in the Senate. Emergency measures never end. Votes disappear. Bills never reach the floor. It feels like the Republic is being reshaped behind our backs. And if your vision is even partly true, Palpatine’s the worst of any traitor

Anakin: And if there is something wrong with the clones, something planted in them, the truth needs to shown.

Padme: Then we go to Kamino. We stay radio silent, we assume that anything digital can be traced.

Anakin: We? Padme you can’t…you’re pregnant.

Padme: If the Republic is being manipulated, I am not waiting for permission to stop it. We go. Together.

Kamino’s halls echo with sterile calm as Anakin and Padme follow Taun We into a private examination chamber. The rain outside pounds against the transparent glass, but inside everything is quiet, clinical, controlled. They explain why they came, that they believe the Republic is being manipulated from within, that the war may have been engineered, and that the clones might have been given hidden directives. Taun We listens without interruption, her long neck tilting slightly as she absorbs their words.

Taun We: We reexamined CT-5555 after his incident. His claims were dismissed as a tumor, but the medical logs show something else. The trooper was drugged during his second evaluation. His system contained a sedative not administered by any authorized Kaminoan staff. His confusion and memory loss were consistent with forced compliance.
