Semi Hydroponics | 3 Month Transition Update & New Repot - Got a Double Spike on my Phalaenopsis!

In today’s video I’m going to give you an update on an orchid that I repotted 3.5 months ago, which is now blooming and throwing out double spikes for me. I’ll show you what it looked like when I first got it, and how it’s doing now. Complex phalaenopsis orchids enjoy semi hydro in my environment. With the results I got, I’m going to move all my complex phals into a self watering semi-hydro set up. I think they like having access to a constant stream of nutrients.

I’ll also repot a new phal in the same set up. We’ll also talk through different schools of thought in cutting the flower spikes, and getting additional flower spikes off existing ones. I will keep you updated on how it does. You can always follow along on instagram as well :)

Growing Conditions & Climate:
Almost all orchids grown indoors
Eastern Exposures (4-5 hours direct early morning sun) & LED Grow Lights
- Most orchids grow under the lights
- Only cool growers & orchids in bloom grow under my Eastern facing windows
- Grow space doesn’t get any additional sunlight other than the LED’s
Zone 7a - Humid Subtropical
