It’s the beginning of another adventure building a home start to finish with the Perkins Brothers and Crew!! As usual we are perched on a remote mountain top in the the Great Smoky Mountains, which poses it’s own unique challenges for construction.

On this episode We start in on framing the roof on the main wing of our cabin. To do this we have decided to stick frame our own Trusses instead of ordering them prefab. This gives us flexibility to make changes on the fly and not have to rely on a crane getting up the mountain to build a roof system! In this case we have Sized the rafters and ceiling joists to carry their loads without intermediate webbing instead of having center members with webbing.
