California's the prettiest lake campground | Mary Smith Campground at Lewiston Lake.

We were driving here for 8 hours to spent 2 nights at the prettiest California's lake campground that was published by Sunset Magazine. Mary Smith Campground is located at Lewiston Lake in Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

We haven't seen a single person except for a camp host who showed only next day. No cars, no camp site neighbors.

This campground has only 18 camp sites. 5 of the sites are glamping by the lake, the rest - regular camp site. Actually, irregular. The rest of the camp sites are walk-in sites which means you have to park your car on the side and walk up to your spot. This was the first time staying at such a site. We loved the elevated site which opened up a beautiful lake view.
