WFR President Mr.Neel and Prof.Petrik speaking at NEERI

Demonstration at NEERI

What is graphene? What is it used for? The most amazing thing about this semi-metal of the future is the fact that you can produce it yourself in your living room! What is graphene, and why is it so amazing? One of the things that makes graphene so cool is that it’s the thinnest material you can imagine. It's just one atom thick! This means this material is mathematically 2-dimensional. And you can still hold this single layer of atoms in your hands! Surprisingly, graphene isn't a unique or rare substance. In fact, it has the same carbon structure as the graphite you use every day when you draw or write with your pencil! But at the same time, in 0.03” of graphite, there are about 3 million graphene layers!

On the advice of Hon. Minister of drinking water and sanitation Mr.Nitin Gadkari to NEERI Director Dr. Satish Wate NEERI has arranged the presentation at NEERI Nagpur on 21st July 2014. Unfortunately Dr.Wate didn't attended programmed as he as some other official visit out station. Dr.Wate informed Mr.P.S. Dutt, Chief Scientist & Head Business Development & Technology Transfer (BDTT) Division to host the programmed. Mr.Dutt welcomed the delegation at Committee Room.
National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, the members of the NEERI welcomed professor on the 21st morning. All the scientists and members associated with environment were invited to attend the presentation and seminars at Presentation on the HRCM Technology at Committee Room No.1. Large section of NEERI scientist saw the presentation and hold discussion with Prof. Petrik. WFR President Mr. Neel started with introductory note and passes the podium to Prof. Petrik. Prof. began with a small an introductory speech about the HRCM technology. He then showed to the team how sorbent clears oil spillages from the water.
His next demonstration was the demonstration of water purification with a filter size of a small box. The water was deliberately made impure with mud, oil, etc. in a long cylindrical container, it was then mixed well. The dirty water was then purified in front of the entire team using the filter.
Various scientists present there compared the smell and color of pure water with that of the one filtered. It was hard for them to believe that water to could be cleaned to such high level as demonstrated; some of them came forward with doubts, but were completely satisfied with the results.
In another experiment to prove the authenticity of the filter, 'HRCM Bucket (Balti) Filter' filter was used to filter out water from coca cola. Scientists were encouraged to come forward and drink the water purifies from "HRCM Bucket (Balti) Filter".

After the demonstration there was question answer section between NEERI scientist and Prof. Petrik, which was successfully ended by appropriate answers. The entire consortium of NEERI was happy and satisfied. They thanked professor for his visit and making them a part of demonstrations of this great technology and asked to send the HRCM filters as soon for testing at NEERI.
