South African teacher devotes herself in voluntary work in China

Coming from South Africa, Anneli van Schoor has been living in Tongxiang, a county-level city of East China's Zhejiang province for over 13 years, working as an English teacher.

Apart from being an energetic teacher in the classroom, Anneli is also an enthusiast of doing voluntary work in her community.

When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, she worked as a volunteer to test people's temperature. When the worst time of the epidemic was ended, Anneli volunteered to participate in community's daily campaigns to pick up rubbish and urge people to park in the right place.

"I've been here so long and I feel it's my job to do something for the community," she said.
