Leslie Model 820 Project Introduction

Duration 6:52

This is a quick review of the Leslie 820 for those who are unfamiliar with this amp. This is representative of the next generation of Leslie amps: plywood, Tolex, transistors, plastic drum pulley, and a polystyrene drum. However, the Leslie sound is 100% intact.

I have created a new entry under Technical Articles on my website: www.DeepBlueHarp.com. It is labeled "Shop Notes". Under Shop Notes, the shop notes for the Leslie 145/147 and Leslie 820 can be found. I hope you find this useful.

I see Leslie amps sold for $600 to $2,300. However, a Leslie that is not in operating condition can be purchased for under $200. Repairs can be made for under $200 typically. I have friends that go to donation places and buy equipment, like a Leslie. The equipment is donated because the owner may be clearing out a relative's house or garage.

Leslie's are an important part of the Blue's culture and need to be preserved. If you have questions about repairs, please contact me. I also repair these units.
