Asilomar Conference Center - Julia Morgan

In 1913 Julia Morgan designed the Asilomar Conference Center. Known for Hearst Castle, she was the first woman admitted to the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and the first woman licensed architect in California.

The carefully planned site is on sand dunes adjacent to the beach. The buildings are in the arts and craft style anchored by stone piers, clad in shingles with exposed wood beams on the interiors. Other architects have added sympathetic buildings to the site in subsequent years.

You can grab breakfast at Phoebe’s Cafe to enjoy the architecture or sushi nearby at Takara. Come see the Asilomar Conference Center.
