If your Westinghouse iGen2550c generator won’t start and has a broken pull cord, this video walks you through exactly how to fix it.

We show you how to fully remove and replace the recoil starter assembly on this inverter generator after the pull cord snapped during starting. This is a common failure point for generators, especially when the recoil cord frays or wears out from repeated use.

In this case the spring had broken so it could not be restrung but this video shows how to get it out so you can restring it if that is what needs done instead of replacing it.

After replacing the recoil assembly, we attempt to start the generator — but it still doesn’t run.

We then go step-by-step through diagnosing a no-start condition on these small Westinghouse inverter generators. You’ll learn what to check in the fuel system, how to spot issues caused by stale fuel, and what can cause hard starting or no starting at all even after the recoil is fixed.
