"Es hat 20 Minuten zur Konzipierung der BMW G/S 80 gebraucht und 40 Jahre bis zur Entwicklungsgeschichte", sagt der ehemalige BMW Motorrad Designer, Hans A. Muth. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem BMW-Enthusiasten, Georg Martin aus Schongau, entsteht auf der Basis alter Aufzeichnungen ein originalgetreuer Nachbau des ursprünglichen Designreferenzmodells aus 1978. Aus einer spontanen Idee wird die bis heute erfolgreichste Motorradkategorie bei BMW.
