Hi guys welcome to aclaireytale!!! Join us as we head to the Lake District!!!!
As I mentioned in last week's vlog, I have some extra time off in June that I had to take off work. (Simon didn't have to and so is saving his holiday for when we can fly to America just in case you were wondering why he's not here!)
So we decided to go to the Lake District for the night!!! We stay for one night at the Windermere Hotel which is right by the Windermere train station. It's a glorious hotel on the outside but pretty basic and dated on the inside. We still had a lovely time though. I give you a room tour at the Windermere Hotel and show you its surroundings.
We go for a walk up Orrest Head in Windermere right by the hotel. It's a short work and pretty flat until you get to the very top. Takes about 30mins each way on average. We had our packed lunch at the top and had the most stunning views!!
We then head into Bowness for a drink at the Beatrix Potter Cafe inside the Beatrix Potter Museum at the Old Laundry. We used to go here a lot when I was little! I also take you into the gift shop. On the way out of Bowness I show you the flat we used to own when I was aged 5-15 before we got the villa!
Next we have dinner at the Ship Inn which is right on Lake Windermere in Bowness. We go to this pub/restaurant a lot as it never lets us down. I show you our dinner and then we go for a little walk alongside the lake. We go for an evening couple of drinks at the Orrest Head Pub by the hotel.
The next day we check out of the Windermere Hotel and head into Ambleside. We eat at Apple Pie Cafe for breakfast and then head into the Apple Pie Bakery to take some goodies home. Next we drive to Grasmere and check out some art galleries and Grasmere Garden Centre. I think I kind of forgot I was vlogging on this last day so sorry for the very few clips I have!!!
