Getting pregnant in France and having a baby in Paris was quite the experience as a foreigner living in France! This video is all about the 7 big differences I noticed being pregnant and giving birth in France vs the USA. Some might not be huge pregnancy shocks to you, is it really that surprising that it's a lot cheaper to give birth in France than the US? But other things might surprise you like the French due dates being slightly different in than other parts of the world! Even if you aren't an expat giving birth in France come check out the video to give the 411 on the big differences between pregnany and delivery of a sweet little babe in France vs the US!

At one point in the video, I talk about the nine big differences, but actually only touch on seven differences. I ended up talking so much about French pregnancy differences that I ran out of time for the other two pregnancy shocks! Below is some info on the two that i didnt have time to keep in the video.

8. Epidural - I really noticed while pregnant that there is more of a push in France to have medicated births. Even when i said that i was thinking about going natural, i was told that i would be hooked up for an epidural in any case so that the doctors were ready when i changed my mind. They made me feel like i wouldnt be able to handle it. I feel like in the US, it's more accepted to go without medication if you want even if lots of women choose epidurals. Thoughts?

9. Breast Feeding- Almost like epidural, i didnt feel like the breast feeding community was as strong in France as the US. Most French women i know chose to formula feed and so when breastfeeding was very painful for me in the beginning, my doctor said, just switch to formula. I'm all for #fedisbest and choosing what works for your family, but i didn't feel a strong support to help find me a solution to continue breastfeeding. In the states, it seems talking to my friends that its highly pushed to breastfeed with lots of supports and groups. Thoughts?
