Liz Wolczko, Joana's Mom and John's Sister

Hear from Liz Wolczko as she shares about the loss of her brother John, and her beloved only child, her daughter Joana. After her brother died, her family didn’t know what to do or where to turn. Not long after her brother’s death, her mother read about The Compassionate Friends in an article in The Washington Post. The incredible support that her family received all of those years ago was invaluable. Not only were her parents helped in their grief, they were guided in how to be more available as parents to their remaining children.

After the devastating loss of her daughter Joanna, Liz’s mom urged Liz to seek help and support from TCF. Liz shares, “I was rocked to my core after my daughter died. I just couldn’t wrap my head around Joana being gone. My mom made me promise to find a Compassionate Friends chapter.” Liz’s mom told her that TCF will help her and that she wouldn’t find anyone better to support her. Liz also shares, “Thank you, Compassionate Friends, for the amazing support that you have given my family for 48 years.”
