Chicago Near West Side Bike Ride | Taylor Street to UIC

Dec 4, 2021 - This video captures my eastbound ride down Taylor Street from Western to the University of Illinois Chicago. This section of Taylor Street has an interesting mix of shops and restaurants, empty lots, and medical offices. There is a bike lane that runs the majority of the route, but unfortunately the lane is narrow and in the door zone of parked and idling cars. You just can't trust Chicago drivers to check their mirrors before throwing their car door open with great force, so for that reason I believe the design of the bike lane is substandard. Either way, it was still a fairly relaxing ride on a beautiful day. I ended at the Harry W. Pearce Memorial Grove at the entrance to UIC's campus.
