The trend of legendary internet memes being transformed into one-of-a-kind NFTs is showing no sign of slowing down. First there was Disaster Girl, with a picture of a smirking four-year-old in front of a burning building being sold for 180 ETH back in April. Then came Charlie Bit Me, the heart-warming video of a boisterous toddler chomping on his older brother’s finger. The official YouTube clip — which had been viewed more than 880 million times since 2007 — was deleted after the NFT version sold for ETH worth $760,999 in May.

Netflix is making a new documentary focused on the doomed crypto exchange QuadrigaCX. The Canadian trading platform collapsed after its CEO and founder Gerald Cotten died of complications related to Crohn’s disease while on his honeymoon in India. Cotten was 30 years old — and the only person who had access to cold storage where client funds worth tens of millions of dollars were stored. But as efforts began to try and reunite the exchange’s customers with their crypto, it emerged that many of the cold wallets were empty — prompting some to speculate that Cotten may have faked his own death.

Cardano will soon have a stablecoin for the very first time, it has been revealed. At a summit held in Wyoming yesterday, the blockchain network’s founder Charles Hoskinson unveiled Djed, an algorithmic stablecoin that uses smart contracts to eliminate price fluctuations. All of this could open doors for Cardano — dubbed an “Ethereum killer” by some enthusiasts — to play a bigger role in the world of decentralized finance. The platform’s native cryptocurrency, ADA, has surged in value over recent months. With a market capitalization of $71.6 billion at the time of writing, it’s now the third-biggest coin that’s listed on CoinMarketCap.
