Chimpanzee painting time-lapse
I was commissioned to do a portrait of the dominant male chimpanzee at our zoo for the primate curator's birthday.
A time-lapse camera was set up to take one shot every minute minute and as this is playing at 25 frames per second, one second represents 25 minutes. The painting took 20 hours to complete.
Unlike the dolphin painting in another of my videos I used a wash/glaze technique here with transparent layers, which is why the chimpanzee's face develops gradually.
