Along the shores of Thailand’s Chumphon Archipelago, the sea reveals one of its most fleeting transformations. With each falling tide, a hidden world emerges. An environment balanced between ocean and land, where only the most adaptable life can endure. Here, small and often overlooked creatures navigate extremes of heat, exposure and time, surviving in a space that exists for only a few hours each day.
At the heart of the film is a quiet reflection from filmmaker Yevheniia Rehus, inviting us to reconsider where we choose to look. While the ocean is often defined by its largest and most dramatic inhabitants, this film turns instead to the margins – to the subtle, the fragile, and the easily missed. Through her perspective, the intertidal zone becomes more than a habitat. It becomes a lens through which we observe not only nature, but ourselves – our habits of looking, and what we choose to value. Human presence is not separate from this landscape.
As the tide recedes, local communities step onto the exposed shore, continuing a rhythm that has existed for generations.
