Mission To Derben
On January 14, 1945 the 390th Bomb Group was part of the most dangerous mission a B-17 could fly during WWII – bombing an oil target. Bombing the oil facility at Derben, Germany resulted in the 390th's biggest loss of the war – 9 bombers shot down. Listen to 4 airmen all serving on the same crew describe the mission from their own unique perspective. It was an especially perilous mission with the loss of 2 gunners who mistakenly bailed out during takeoff.
