Why I prefer Mike Portnoy to Mike Mangini

This video covers several reasons why Mike Mangini has disappointed me in Dream Theater. Some of these reasons are not Mangini's direct fault. I received a credible-sounding email last year from someone who spoke to Mangini a couple times in Italy, saying that Mangini was frustrated with his role in Dream Theater because Petrucci and Rudess were treating him like a mere session player, forcing him to play pre-written parts. Mangini also stated that Petrucci "destroyed" his drum sound, and that LaBrie couldn't sing like he used to (that's a no-brainer).

Even then, we can fault Mangini for having a lack of spine relative to Mike Portnoy, who after all, was the member of Dream Theater most opposed to Elektra Records attempting to commercialize the Falling Into Infinity album. All of you Dream Theater fans who celebrated Portnoy leaving the band because he supposedly has such a big ego. Well, you got what you wanted in the form of one extremely humble Michael Mangini. And he just got walked all over by Beardo and Hunchback.

At the end of this video, I also briefly touch on Kevin Moore vs. Jordan Rudess, and why I prefer Moore.
