First Flights After 9 Years in the Hangar - Rubber-Powered 22.5" Mitsubishi 1MF1
Series of films and photos showing six flights from April 2019 by the rubber-powered free-flight model of the 22.5" Mitsubishi 1MF1 biplane from 1921. Model was designed & built by Tom Hallman. It was first flown in 1997, but had not seen air since 2010, after it had been on display at the EAA. Model was one of the NFFS Top Ten Models of the Year in 1998 and the Earl Stahl winner at the 2004 FAC Nats. Music via motionarray.com
The Mitsubishi 1MF1 was Japan's first carrier fighter aircraft. Designed for the Mitsubishi Aircraft Company by the British aircraft designer Herbert Smith.
