How to Highlight Duplicates in Google Sheets | Simple Method (2026)

In this video I am going to show you how to highlight duplicates in google sheets. Learn how to use conditional formatting to quickly find and mark duplicate values in rows or columns. Whether you're cleaning up data, analyzing spreadsheets, or managing lists, this method will help you spot duplicates with ease.

*To Highlight Duplicates in a Single Column*
Enter the following formula: =COUNTIF(A:A, A1) *ENTER GREATER THAN SIGN HERE* 1
(Replace A:A with your actual column range, e.g., B:B for column B.)
1. Open your Google Sheet and select the column where you want to find duplicates.
2. Click on Format in the menu bar and select Conditional formatting.
3. In the Conditional format rules panel, under Format cells if, choose Custom formula is.
4. Enter the formula.
5. Choose a formatting style - like a highlight color.
6. Click Done.

*To Highlight Duplicates Across Multiple Columns*
Enter the following formula: =COUNTIF($A$1:$C$100, A1) *ENTER GREATER THAN SIGN HERE* 1

Repeat the above process.
