DIY Potting Soil Mix for a Fraction of the Cost!

Because we intend to grow as much as we can this year, we're in need of large quantities of dirt to fill some pots and get things planted. Not wanting to spend a ton of money on name-brand potting soil mix, we decided to make our own! Using simple ingredients like topsoil, manure, and peat moss, you can fill those same pots with high quality potting soil, that costs about 1/4 of what those pre-made bags would run you. Not only will your plants grow big and strong, but there's money back in your wallet, which is always a plus!

Here we also used some bark, for moisture retention, and also added organic fertilizer and a few extra ingredients specific to the plant going in the pot. Today we're planting a Black Beauty Zucchini, which calls for a little lime, to prevent blossom end rot. A few days later and the zuke's loving it's new home!
