Lawmakers Push for Stronger Protection of Schools and Communities

The Senate has reconvened plenary with renewed calls for decisive action against insecurity following the recent attack on a school in Oyo State that resulted in deaths and abductions.

During proceedings, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed hope that the abducted victims would soon be rescued by security operatives and announced plans to fast-track the proposed National Summit on Insecurity.

While mourning those who lost their lives in the attack, the Senate President urged Nigerians to unite in confronting the security challenges facing the country and called on lawmakers to support measures aimed at protecting schools, students, and vulnerable communities.

Members of the Senate observed a minute of silence in honour of the victims, reaffirming their commitment to pursuing policies and strategies that will enhance national security and safeguard lives.

The development underscores growing concerns over insecurity and the need for coordinated efforts to address emerging threats across the country.
