Joseph Benganoun better known as Cheikh Zouzou was a singer of Algerian Jewish origin, born in Oran in 1862. He would also sing and perform Texts by Sidi Lakhdar Ben Khlouf
a famous Algerian poet of the 16th century famous thanks to his Poems on Prophet Mohammed.

Other sources say that Sheikh Zouzou was born January 16, 1890 in Ain Temouchent and died March 18, 1975 in Nice (France) at the age of 85 years.
