Line of Duty Masterclass | Jed Mercurio & Vicky McClure | Edinburgh TV Festival 2017

Famed for his meticulous attention to detail, plot twists that push all the limits and a penchant for killing off his leads, Mercurio has become one of the leading writers of his generation. In this unmissable session he will discuss the genesis of the series, which is produced by World Productions and began life on BBC Two, and reveal the opportunities and challenges involved in making it a ratings hit for BBC One.

Mercurio is also credited with creating some of the strongest and most complex female characters on screen and Vicky McClure will talk about her role at the heart of AC-12 as the trusty Kate Fleming. McClure will also give us an insight into performing the series’ intense interrogation scenes and reveal what it’s like to work with a famously involved writer, producer and director as well as other acclaimed cast including Keeley Hawes, Adrian Dunbar and Thandie Newton.
