오늘은 부산 속의 작은 중국 부산 차이나타운을 여러분께 소개합니다.
부산 차이나타운은 부산역 맞은편 동구 초량동에 위치해 있습니다.
이 거리의 정식명칭은 '상해거리'인데, 1993년 부산광역시와 중국 상하이시가 자매결연을 맺은 것을 기념하여 지어진 것입니다.
이곳은 부산이 간직하고 있는 근대적 분위기와 상점에서 흘러나오는 중국풍의 음악과 홍등에서 뿜어져 나오는 이국적 분위기가 합쳐져 오묘한 분위기를 연출하는 특별한 거리입니다. 사실 이름은 차이나타운이지만 화교들이 운영하는 중국요리 음식점들뿐만 아니라 동남아시아, 터키, 우즈베키스탄, 러시아풍의 상점들까지 다소 복합적인 다국적의 문화가 뒤섞여 있는 곳입니다.
이곳 부산 차이나타운의 특별한 점은 자장면이나 짬뽕 중심의 인천 차이나타운과는 달리 주 메뉴가 만두라는 점입니다.
실제로 중국 음식점이지만 자장면과 짬뽕 등을 아예 팔지 않는 곳도 있으며, 대표적인 만두 전문점으로는 신발원이나 일품향이 있습니다.
이 중 오늘 방문한 곳은 바로 이곳입니다.
'신발원' "늘 새롭게 번창하는 가게"라는 이름에 걸맞게 1951년 국제 시장 미싱 골목에 만두 전문점을 개업한 이래 이곳으로 자리를 옮겨 70년 이상 성업중인 가게입니다.
11:00부터 20:00까지 운영하며, 매주 화요일은 정기 휴무일입니다.
대표 메뉴로는 고기만두와 군만두가 있으며, 그 외 마라만두, 교자, 콩국과 콩국과자, 공갈빵과 월병 등 다양한 중국풍의 음식을 경험할 수 있는 곳입니다.
이중 오늘 먹어볼 메뉴는 군만두입니다.
군만두가 식어 '생기'를 잃기 전에 얼른 발걸음을 제촉합니다.
군만두의 맛을 최고 수준으로 끌어올릴 최적의 장소가 신발원에서 도보 10분 거리에 위치해 있습니다.
이곳을 가기 위해선 초량 이바구길을 통과해야 합니다.
'이바구'란 경상도 사투리로 ‘이야기’라는 뜻으로, 부산 근현대 역사의 다양한 이야기를 녹여 놓은 길입니다.
특히 부산 최초의 근대식 물류창고였던 ‘남선창고’부터 층계마다 피란민들의 설움이 녹아있는 ‘168계단’ 등은 근현대 부산의 옛 기억을 고스란히 간직한 곳입니다.
어느덧 168계단에 다다랐습니다. 계단이 매우 가파르니 '하체'에 자신이 없으신 분들은 무료로 운행되는 모노레일을 이용하시면 됩니다.
숨이 턱 끝까지 차오르지만 점점 온기를 잃어가는 가엾은 “군만두”를 생각하며 쉬지 않고 계단을 오릅니다.
군만두와 잘 어울리는 맥주도 준비했습니다.

This is a special street that creates a mysterious atmosphere by combining the modern atmosphere of Busan with the Chinese music from the shops and the exotic atmosphere from the red lanterns. Although the name is actually 'Chinatown', it is a place where a rather complex multinational culture is mixed, not only with Chinese restaurants run by overseas Chinese, but also shops with Southeast Asian, Turkish, Uzbekistan and Russian styles.
What makes Busan Chinatown special is that the main menu is dumplings, unlike Incheon Chinatown, which focuses on jajangmyeon and jjamppong.
Although it is actually a Chinese restaurant, there are places that do not sell jajangmyeon (zhajiangmian) or jjamppong (champon) at all.
This is the one I visited today.
'Sinbalwon' True to the name of "a store that is always thriving", Since opening a dumpling specialty store on the sewing machine alley in Gukje Market in 1951, it has moved to this place and has been in business for over 70 years.
The main menu includes meat dumplings and fried dumplings, and other Chinese-style foods such as mara dumplings, gyoza, bean soup and bean soup confectionery, gonggal bread and moon cakes, etc.
'Meat dumplings or fried dumplings?' After a lot of deliberation, I decided to choose fried dumplings today.
Before the dumplings cool down and lose their 'vitality', I hurriedly move to the special place.
The best place to bring the taste of thr dumplings to the highest level is located within a 10-minute walk from 'Sinbalwon'.
To get to this place, you have to pass the Choryang Ibagu-gil.
'Ibagu' means 'story' in the Gyeongsang dialect, and Ibagu-gil is a road with various stories of Busan's modern and contemporary history.
In particular, from ‘Namseon Warehouse’, which was Busan’s first modern logistics warehouse, to ‘168 Stairs’, where the sorrows of refugees are melted on every step, the old memories of modern Busan are preserved intact.
I finally arrived at '168 Stairs'. The stairs are very steep, so if you have difficulty climbing, you can use the free monorail.
Today, I also prepared a beer that goes well with fried dumplings.
