The three Georgia deputies accused of Tasing a man to death in Washington County are back on trial Wednesday morning.

Three deputies — Henry Lee Copeland, Michael Howell, and Rhett Scott — were fired and charged with killing of Eurie Martin back in 2017.

He was tased 15 times in 16 minutes, ending with his death on Deepstep Road.

His family has said Martin long struggled with mental illness, particularly schizophrenia.

Deputies were dispatched after a neighbor said he was trespassing on their land. The reason, according to court records, was to fill a Coke bottle with water on a hot summer's day.

The deputies argued that they were responding reasonably to the situation. However, the family and prosecutors say that there was no reason for the deputies to stop Martin, especially not Tase him to death.
