New Class 196 for West Midland Trains, on test at Hereford.

An evening test for my new camera, seeing my first Class 196 in action. The new Class 196 built by CAF, will consists of Twelve two-car (196001-196012) and 14 four-car (196101-196114) sets. with 20 of the 80 vehicles to be built in Spain and the rest assembled at CAF’s Newport factory. 196104 was the first to leave Newport. They have started testing them throughout the past 6 months but this is the first I have seen one in action. These units will be run on Birmingham to Shrewsbury via Telford services, Birmingham to Hereford services, with appearances on the Snow Hill Lines (Dorridge & Stratford-upon-Avon to Worcester) on occasion. Also seen is a Class 172 which are currently covering many of the Birmingham services from Hereford and a TFW Class 150.
