2 Reasons I Chose Detection & Response in Cybersecurity

I could’ve gone into a lot of different areas of cybersecurity… but I chose Detection & Response.

Part of it is the mental challenge. Writing detections feels like a constant chess match — trying to think like an attacker and build systems that catch them before damage is done.

And the other part is incident response. No two incidents are ever the same, and that uncertainty makes the work exciting.

Stressful sometimes? Absolutely.

But every once in a while I take a step back and think, “damn… this is actually really cool.”
