050916 FM 2090 DOUBLE FATAL

About 130pm, a Cadillac was eastbound on FM 2090 and attempting to pass three vehicles in a curve. A mini van was westbound and was unable to avoid the head-on crash. The female driver of the van died on the scene. The male driver of the Cadillac was trapped for almost an hour as firefighters with New Caney Fire Department worked to free him. They had to also resort to using a wrecker and were finally able to free the driver. He was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His passenger was also taken to Conroe Regional and she remains in critical condition. FM 2090 was closed all afternoon and just reopened at 530pm. The names have not yet been released. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the female victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
