Collective Expertise Meets Venture Investing

Today, most investments are reinforcing systemic inequities, driven by short-term thinking and made based on individual/ego-driven processes. Just in the US, some 44% of businesses are owned by women and people from minoritized communities -- yet only 6% of venture capital goes to these communities. While we can call for more investment to go to BIPOC & Women entrepreneurs, this statistic is linked to a larger issue of how capital is raised based on ego, personal/family influence, and a “macho culture” in the investment sector.

What if there were models that not only created more equitable investments, but even reinforced collective (rather than individualistic) decision-making? And what if those models also generated very strong financial return?

On today’s EQ Livestream, we’ll explore a dramatic shift that would let people “walk the talk” for ethical & equitable investing. Today’s show is part of our series on The Sustainable Development Goals and using head + heart + hands to work together for a thriving future that works for everyone.
