autodesk Inventor wind turbine water pump windmill

The video was made in 2007 when I was part of a student project team where we had to design a windmill to pump up water.

One of the requirements was that the fabrication and maintenance could be done in Africa. For fabrication it was possible to use a turning lathe, a metal saw and a welding machine, but not a milling machine. Therefore the design looks very basic/eighteenth century.

The main axle is supported by standard ball bearings with dust seals. In the smaller section of the box construction the mast is connected with bearings (not shown).

At the back of the wind mill top, a vane will be situated. The vane will create a force that will balance the force of the rotor, which is out of center. When the wind speed becomes to high, the vane will be lifted by the wind force and the reaction force will be less than from the rotor, so the rotor will turn away from the wind direction.
The shaft connected to the pump will be inside of the mast (not shown)

You can see the complete windmill on the picture in the link below.

Please don't ask for drawings, unfortunately I don't have them any more, but feel free to use the idea as an inspiration.
