The house where my family and I live is really big. But one night I could hear my parents fight all the way from my room.

My best friend Ella was staying over. My parents had been screaming at each other for hours. We couldn’t make out exactly what they were saying but we were both really uncomfortable.

Ella said, “I’m going to call our driver to come and pick me up. I’ll come by another time.” I was upset with my parents for ruining our evening but there was nothing I could do.

After Ella left, I walked over to my parents’ bedroom. I was curious to find out what they were fighting about.

As I was walking up to their room, I saw two maids standing outside their door, eavesdropping. As soon as they saw me, they started walking away. They both gave me really sad looks and I didn’t know why.
