Born into reggae royalty, Nastassja Hammond is one of six children of Jamaican lover’s‑rock icon Beres Hammond, who was born on August 28, 1955, in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica.
From early childhood, music was woven into her daily life. She fondly remembers her dad picking her up from school and heading straight into studio sessions—experiencing reggae at its creative source from the inside.
She often beat on her lunch kit pretending to drum and sang harmonies—not main melodies—from about age six or seven, signaling early evidence of her rhythmic inclination and knack for vocal arrangement.
