HUMAN NATURE Do You Love Me / Twist & Shout

Two classic pop standards; both from the early 1960's - here performed with great vigour and soul by Aussie group Human Nature. 'Do you love me' was a hit way back in 1962 for The Contours and penned by Mr Motown himself Berry Gordy Jr. 'Twist & Shout' was originally recorded by The Top Notes in 1961(produced by Phil Spector), but it was a hit the following year for The Isley Brothers. Most folks know the Beatles' version which was issued in 1963.

Human Nature have had a sensational career both in Australia and around the world; and their discography includes pop, soul, traditional pop and r&b recordings. 'Do you love me' was featured on their 2007 'Get Ready' CD which was their 3rd Motown tribute set. 'Twist and Shout' is from their 2014 'Jukebox' album. My reason for linking them into one clip was honestly because they seemed to be the only selections I had included on my ipod and phone from this group and I wondered if they might work as an extended Motown-ish 60's pop double. In writing this intro, I checked the wikipedia page for 'Do you love me' and curiously and wonderfully for me to read. it is said that Bruce Springsteen often ended his concerts in the mid 80's with a medley that featured both 'Do you love me' and 'Twist and Shout'. How spooky! It was otherwise a pretty random pairing on my part of 2 recordings made some 7 years apart by Human Nature! Enjoy!!!!!
