RARE PanAm C40-8s in New Jersey! Railfanning in Piscataway with NS 21Q and CSX K160 with PAR 6/16/20

On June 16, 2020, I received a heads up on a Facebook group that CSX K160 was making its down the River Sub with two Pan Am C40-8 standard cabs, MEC 7585 and MEC 7622. Both 7585 and 7622 started their careers with CSX in the late 1980s up thru 2017; with 7622 still wearing its YN2 livery and both units keeping their original road numbers, their CSX heritage is very noticeable. They came off empty coal train CSX E618 (PAR ECT) from New Hampshire and were apparently on CSX for Pan Am to repay horsepower hours back. This move drew significant interest for many railfans in the area, as these locomotives are native to the Pan Am system ever since they were bought from CSX in 2017. I expected them to get dropped off in Selkirk or North Bergen instead of stay on the train all the way to Philadelphia. Upon getting word that both units were staying for the rest of K160's journey, I made my way up to the South Ave. crossing in Piscataway, NJ to have a shot at catching them. I also saw NS 21Q first, which has an ordinary set of power. 30 minutes after 21Q passed, K160 came rounding the bend with the 2 standard cab Pan Am Dash 8s trailing. This is a once-in-a-lifetime catch and can't see something like this in Central Jersey happening soon in several years. Hope you enjoyed and please like, comment, and subscribe for more!
