Hello, I'm Nancy. Welcome back to my video diary of real life in China.
As an introvert, I rarely go out, but today my best friend finally dragged me out of the house! I’m taking you with me to see what a real weekend hangout looks like for us in a Chinese Tier-5 small town.
We took the kids to the mall, played arcade games, and booked a private KTV room—guess what? Because of an online promotion, 3 whole hours cost us only $10 USD! 😲 We ended the day with amazing DIY BBQ. Plates start at just $1, and our entire massive meal for all of us was around $50 USD.
During lunch, I also opened up about my past toxic workplace, why I quit my job, and how this true friendship helped me through a tough time.
Though I didn't pay for the meals today (my sweet friend treated us!), I did buy my daughter matching shoes. The cost of living here makes it possible for a lower-income family to still enjoy a wonderful, grounded life.
