A guide to submitting sequence data to ENA for fermented food research

This webinar will provide an overview of best practices for submitting sequence data from fermented food studies to European Nucleotide Archive (ENA). It will cover how to accurately describe samples and define their relationships using BioSamples, as well as how to request downstream analysis of your data through MGnify.

The webinar is designed to support researchers in preparing well-structured, reusable datasets that align with community standards and enable effective data sharing.

This webinar is organised as part of the FAIRferm project under the Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens (BFSP) Priority Area of the ELIXIR Scientific Programme 2024–2028.

Who is this course for?
This webinar is suitable for researchers in life sciences who want to learn more about how to submit their data to ENA.

Outcomes
By the end of the webinar, you will be able to:
- Understand the key requirements for submitting sequence data to the European Nucleotide Archive (ENA)
- Apply best practices for describing fermented food samples and associated metadata
- Structure and link samples effectively using BioSamples
- Navigate the process of submitting data and requesting analysis via MGnify
- Recognise how well-described datasets improve data reuse and interoperability
