जलीय जन्तु पर्यावरण के साथ साथ मानव के दैनिक उपयोग के लिये महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते है। जलीय जन्तु का महत्व इस तथ्य से आता है कि वे ऐसे जीव है मनुष्यों को दवा, भोजन, ऊर्जा आश्रय और दैनिक जीवन के लिये उपयोग किये जाने वाले कच्चे माल जैसे स्रोत् प्रदान करते है।
